YPS Welcomes Second Cohort of Doctoral Fellows

Building on last year’s program launch, twelve additional PhD students from across the university will receive the Stella M. Hammond Planetary Solutions Fellowship, building skills, community, and broader research horizons.

The 2026–2028 cohort of YPS Doctoral Fellows represents a wide range of research interests, from applied physics to anthropology. The applicant pool was once again highly competitive, and selected students stood out for their passion for advancing solutions in climate, biodiversity, ecosystems, and society; their visions for scalable, transformative systems change; and their ambition to become leaders in their fields.

Fellows receive a $3,500 annual stipend “top-up” for each year of the fellowship, along with a $2,000 research stipend. YPS, in partnership with the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, is proud to offer this unique opportunity.

In the first year of the fellowship, the cohort will build community, develop practical skills, share perspectives across disciplines, and participate in service opportunities. In their second year, fellows will respond to a request for proposals (RFP) from YPS, which provides funding for each cohort to advance one or more projects from idea to implementation, with a focus on positive impact.
