On November 9 and 10, Yale Planetary Solutions—the university’s initiative to engage all parts of the Yale ecosystem to imagine, catalyze, and demonstrate impactful solutions to our sustainability challenges—will present the Yale and New Haven Climate Energy Summit. Featuring five events over two days, the Summit will convene Nobel laureates, federal officials, members of the Yale community, and esteemed scholars from around the world to discuss, celebrate, and advance innovative leadership in research and practice climate justice, and novel technologies.

Yale Clean Energy Conference
The Yale Clean Energy Conference convenes leading experts to discuss clean energy justice, finance, technology, policy, and careers. This year the conference will focus on ways to align innovation, equity, and investment toward a just energy transition. The Conference will feature Yale alumni in innovative organizations including NextEra Energy Investments, Jupiter Power, and the U.S. government. Also featured are Julie Zimmerman, Yale’s Vice Provost for Planetary Solutions, and David Roberts, energy and climate change writer and host of the popular Volts podcast.

Yale Climate, Environment & Economic Growth Conference
On November 9-10, the Yale School of the Environment and the Yale Tobin Center for Economic Policy will host the Yale Climate, Environment & Economic Growth Conference 2023, with additional support from the Knoblock Family Foundation and Smart Prosperity Institute. The Future of Growth in the Climate Transition: Nobel Laureate Esther Duflo will be one of the many important global thinkers speaking on questions on environmentally sustainable economic growth, from climate justice and poverty reduction to energy markets and the relationship between economic and climate models. The November 9 program features an array of Yale and other researchers in climate economics, industrial policy, and political economy.
Yale Climate, Environment & Economic Growth Conference 2023: Celebrating the paper (by Yale Nobel laureates Bill Nordhaus & James Tobin) that catalyzed the field and led to a landmark Presidential Executive Order this year that Yale professors and centers worked hard to advance. The New York Times recently covered it, generously showcasing it as a very Yale accomplishment (Kerry, Raimondo, Nordhaus, Tobin, Fenichel). The November 10 program will chart the path forward and features Nordhaus, Jed Kolko, the US Under Secretary of Commerce, and other senior federal officials.
ClimateHaven Launch
A new Yale-supported climate technology startup incubator in downtown New Haven is launching on November 9. ClimateHaven helps startups developing climate solutions to prototype their technology, build a business, attract investment, and scale their impact. Financing and Deploying Clean Energy Certificate Program - Five Year Reunion/Celebration
The Yale Financing and Deploying Clean Energy (FDCE) certificate program will host its first-ever FDCE Reunion (November 9-11, 2023), designed in conjunction with the Yale Clean Energy Conference. The reunion will bring together participants from all five cohorts to network in person, share stories of impact, and inspire one another. Since its launch in 2019, over 500 clean energy professionals from around the world have joined FDCE, a 10-month admissions-based online certificate program at Yale that trains and connects rising leaders to catalyze an equitable transition to a clean economy. FDCE participants are working professionals who build key abilities in the areas of policy, finance, and clean technology, making them a key part of Yale’s growing network of clean energy experts at the forefront of our energy transition.
